DIAGNOSIS OF POINT SHOOTING IN PROSTATE CANCER !

Updated: Sep 25, 2021

In standard, non-targeted 12 quadrant prostate biopsies, the rate of not being detected although cancer is present is around 30 percent, while this rate is around 5-10 percent in prostate MRI-guided fusion biopsy. Accordingly, the probability of detecting prostate cancer increases 3-5 times in MR prostate fusion biopsy compared to standard biopsies.

Prostate MRI is performed to detect the suspected cancer point and the ultrasound image and the MR image are superimposed, and the diagnosis rate increases 2-3 times when a biopsy is performed from the right place. Even though there is cancer, the probability of not detecting it decreases. If the PSA is high and the first biopsy is normal, performing it with MR fusion biopsy increases the accuracy of the result.

MR fusion biopsy can be cognitive or aided by a navigation program. The important thing is experience in this matter. Our diagnosis rates are quite high in many biopsies we do.
